A fire-resistant door loses its function entirely if its lock gives way to heat. The lock systems produced by Telcom expand at extreme temperatures, holding the door leaf in place and supporting smoke tightness. This role is a critical technical detail for achieving the resistance times set out in fire regulations. Telcom card lock products are hardware that has proven itself by passing these demanding tests. Chosen with Telcom’s expertise, these locks are the quietest guardians of the safety of life and property.

Regulation on the Protection of Buildings from Fire (Türkiye), Article 48 (Doors): “Doors separating fire compartments shall be fire-resistant so as to prevent the passage of smoke and flame during a fire, and their fire resistance shall not be less than 30 minutes. The hardware of these doors shall be chosen so as not to reduce the fire resistance of the door.” (Source: Official Gazette, 19.12.2007, No. 26735; amended by Official Gazette No. 27344 of 09.09.2009. Frequently asked questions

Why does the 30-minute rule matter for fire-resistant doors?

In a fire, the first 30 minutes are vital for a successful evacuation and for containing the flames. During this time, the door keeping its integrity is the biggest barrier against the spread of heat and smoke. Telcom strengthens the lock mechanism, potentially the weakest link of this critical barrier, with advanced technology. Door and lock resisting fire as a whole is the result of professional security engineering. At Telcom, we keep this awareness at the highest level in every project.
