Gyms and spas

In gyms, pools and spas, a locker lock should let members lock up without carrying a key, let the same locker be used by different people during the day, and let staff open any locker when needed. General Kilit supplies coded, card and card-plus-code electronic locker locks for these facilities.

Gyms and spas

The coded DK112 and the card-plus-code DK113 work with permanent or temporary codes, so they support both lockers assigned to a member and day use where members pick any free locker. The DK112 OA adds automatic opening with a 12- or 24-hour option. After four wrong codes the lock blocks for one minute, and an LED shows whether the locker is occupied or free.

Facilities that issue membership cards or wristbands use the card-operated DK119 or the card-plus-code DK113, after checking that the card works with the lock. Lockers near wet areas use models with insulated, humidity-resistant electronics; the DK116, with a latch handle and rechargeable design, is a further option.

Needs and solutions

  • Keyless use

Members lock up with their own code or with a card or wristband, which cuts lost keys, broken locks and locker mix-ups.

  • Day-use and assigned lockers

Permanent and temporary code modes let the same lock serve a member's assigned locker or a locker shared through the day. The DK112 OA adds automatic opening with a 12- or 24-hour option.

  • Master opening

When a code is forgotten or belongings are left behind, staff open the locker with a master code or master card. The master code can be changed at any time.

  • Unauthorised attempts

After four wrong codes the lock blocks for one minute. The DK112 and DK113 also give a warning when the locker door is forced.

  • Batteries and maintenance

The DK112 and DK113 run on four AAA alkaline batteries and beep when the battery is low. The card-operated DK119 warns before the battery runs out, then opens automatically; an external battery can also open it.

  • Wet areas and locker materials

Locks with insulated, humidity-resistant electronics fit metal, wood, MDF and compact laminate lockers. A trial installation on a sample locker is advised before a bulk order.

Frequently asked questions

Coded or card locker locks for a gym?

If members carry cards or wristbands, card or card-plus-code locks make things easier. Where members carry no card and pick a different locker on each visit, coded locks fit well.

How is a locker opened if a member forgets the code?

Authorised staff open it with a master code or master card; there is no need to break the lock or force the door.

Does a locker stay locked if the battery runs out?

The locks beep when the battery gets low, so with regular checks they do not fail without warning. The card-operated DK119 warns before the battery runs out, opens automatically and can be opened with an external battery.

Can electronic locks be fitted to existing lockers?

Most metal and wooden lockers can take them, as the locks are designed to replace mechanical ones. Door thickness and mounting space should first be tried on a sample locker.

What matters in a facility with 500 lockers?

The usage model (assigned or day use), master opening, battery maintenance, locker material, spare parts and technical service should be planned together. The decision rests on the whole project scope, not on the lock alone.
